WCC World Chefs Championship 2025

Winning 16 Awards Including 5 Excellent Gold Medals in International Culinary Competition

With Passion and Skill, Conquering the World’s Taste Buds

Chef Teera, with her passion for Thai cuisine and years of accumulated expertise, competed in 20 categories at the 2025 World Culinary Competition, winning 16 gold medals, 5 of which were the highest honor — the “Excellent Gold” for perfect scores. In the same year, she was also awarded the title of 2025 Outstanding Thai Cuisine Chef.

In an interview with China Press, Chef Teera admitted that the competition was full of challenges. In addition to the tedious preparation work, all dishes had to be completed on site.

In this competition, Chef Teera not only showcased authentic Thai dishes but also experimented with Vietnamese flavors and creative fusion cuisine.

She mentioned that one Vietnamese snack, which is actually very common in Thailand, also successfully won a gold medal. The most surprising dish was a Thai-style chicken rice, inspired by the home-cooked meal she often prepares for her family. Since the dish was a last-minute entry, she did not rehearse it in advance, but prepared it exactly as she normally would.

‍She recalled that while she was making chili sauce on site, a judge passed by, drawn by the aroma, and couldn’t resist asking for a taste.

“After tasting it, the judge said, ‘I can’t describe this — you have to try it yourselves!’ As a result, this chicken rice also received an Excellent Gold medal.”

When talking about the difference between Thai chicken rice and local Hainanese chicken rice, Chef Teera emphasized that the sauce and soup are the key.“We use a special sauce with a predominantly sour and spicy flavor.

The rice is cooked with fragrant jasmine rice to become oily rice, paired with a clear winter melon soup. Overall, the texture is more springy and refreshing.

”She revealed that many of Khunya Thai Kitchen’s signature dishes also won awards at the competition, proving their quality and authenticity. These include: mango sticky rice, white tom yam and red tom yam, pad thai, pineapple fried rice, duck in red curry, and deep-fried morning glory — most of which earned the highest Excellent Gold honor.

Chef Teera noted that after tasting the tom yam, one judge said: “This pot is going to be our dinner tonight,” — a compliment more precious than the gold medal itself.

Despite the impressive results, Chef Teera humbly pointed out that the real purpose of participating was to prove the quality and standard of their dishes through competition.“The gold medals affirm our team’s dedication and passion behind every dish.”

Dessert Specialist Suphansa Dokchaaem — Creative Mini Cakes Win High Praise

From nursing to the kitchen — Thai dessert specialist Suphansa Dokchaaem, 25, only entered the food industry after moving to Malaysia. She started from the ground up, initially making simple desserts at Khunya Thai Kitchen.

In just three years, with her skillful hands and determined will to learn, she won two medals on the international stage, becoming the team’s dessert expert.

Rattanaporn Seetong — First International Competition, Three Golds and One Silver

Rattanaporn Seetong, 34, in his first-ever international culinary competition, won three gold medals and one silver. His signature Thai-style deep-fried morning glory also earned an Excellent Gold medal, bringing great prestige to the restaurant and to Thai cuisine.

Rattanaporn is currently a senior chef within the restaurant group. In addition to being responsible for daily kitchen operations, he also assists the team and provides technical guidance during the opening of new branches, making him an important driving force behind the brand’s success.
